Job Description:

Manages a team of underwriters. Reviews, analyzes and evaluates risks in order to renew existing business or generate new accounts. Determines appropriate terms and conditions for coverages and rates for program profitability. Contributes to the profitable growth of specific program(s) by maintaining pricing integrity, product excellence, and the development of meaningful performance metrics and controls.

Administers and monitors underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, laws and regulations. May review books of business as well as profit/growth results and trends to recommend and implement action plans.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Ensures overall portfolio performance and asset quality remains strong and is able to independently address and develop strategies and actions to resolve issues that could increase risk and/or create loss for the organization.
Interacts with Sales Team, Credit Products Manager, Credit Officer and CRM, in order to discuss and resolve risk related issues.

Manages a team.
Reviews financials, makes recommendations for approval of annual review/renewal and/or modifications.
Delivers financial, industry, economic and other analysis to facilitate decision making.
Ensures adherence to credit policies, guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Monitors and manages credit quality and data integrity within their loan portfolio.
Proactively identifies issues with recommended risk mitigation.
Identifies revenue opportunities.

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics or equivalent field. (Req)
Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics or equivalent field. (Pref)

Work Experience:
Financial analysis, structuring, underwriting and portfolio management, 9-12 years (Req)
Credit and documentation experience, 9-12 years (Req)

Prior management experience, ideal

Skills and Abilities:

Commercial banking middle market underwriting and portfolio management experience.

Skilled in proposing and negotiating and recommending credit and covenant structures.
Demonstrated practical and conceptual knowledge of credit and risk analysis.
Demonstrated knowledge in financial modeling and able to structure credit in modeling environment.

Able to assist RM's on how to structure the credit relationship.
Exhibits competency at independently reaching conclusions and forms clear view of credit structure and business risk to organization.
Solid understanding of industry nuances applicable to the credits contained within the group's portfolio.
Solid knowledge of loan and related legal documents.
Strong communication skills, and ability to influence others by persuasively presenting thoughts and ideas to gain commitment and agreement for proposed ideas and solutions.
Must demonstrate strong judgment and sound credit skills.
Knowledge of Federal banking regulations.
Proficiency with computer systems.

Working Conditions:

Frequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing and walking. Occasional moving and lifting equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown. Physically capable of lifting up to fifty pounds, able to bend, kneel, climb ladders.
