Identifies and pursues new sales prospects within existing or untapped markets. Gathers market intelligence, generates leads, and develops proposals/campaigns to garner new business, ensuring a consistent flow of new revenues to the company. Uses knowledge of markets, industries, and clients to determine demand, future trends and potential projects. Works pre-developed lead lists to generate business and identify new customer prospects.
Whole Loans Job Description:
The Residential Whole Loan desk purchases and aggregates residential whole loans with the intent of selling/reconstituting those loans via Securitization (MBS) or Whole Loan Sale. Product knowledge and trading experience in the U.S. residential mortgage market. The position is high-touch, and the candidate will be expected to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. This position provides a unique opportunity to gain exposure across the entire range of the U.S. residential mortgage market, and involves collaborating closely with mortgage traders, contract finance, bankers, institutional sales teams, strategists, and quant teams. In this role, the candidate will be expected to be a key contributor the entire life cycle of a whole loan transaction from tape cracking, bidding, onboarding, asset management, hedging and eventual sale or securitization.
Essential Functions/Responsibility:
An analyst on the desk will be expected to grow into the following roles:
Identify and establish relationships with mortgage originators.
Based on market conditions, customer demand, relative value, and other market factors, effectively price and acquire mortgage loans through various methods.
Thoroughly understand all loan purchase/underwriting guidelines of the desk
Collaborate closely with contract finance and middle office in the onboarding and management of acquired whole loans.
Work with team to best determine best capital market execution for mortgage loans in position.
For a securitization exit, help with the structuring, securitization, and syndication process.
Work with sales to develop and maintain relationships and transact with a variety of institutional accounts.
Manage day to day activities and work with other functional groups when necessary (risk, middle office, contract finance, etc.).
Manage the daily risk position and P&L of the desk.
Gather, store, and share market updates, color, and insights.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of trading protocols, markets levels and securitization structures of residential whole loans
Understanding of U.S. residential mortgage market and asset specific fundamentals as well as macro-economic factors affecting the value and trading flow
Thorough knowledge and understanding of mortgage lending, loan products, and operations.
Proficient in all current regulatory compliance requirements.
Able to multi-task in a deadline driven environment. High attention to detail and analytical thinking ability.
Great communicator in voice and written forms
Willingness to work long hours in a demanding, highly focused, collaborative, and team environment
Results driven, with a strong sense of accountability and moral compass
Education:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Business or equivalent field (Req)
Certifications:
SIE, FINRA series 7 and 63 licenses (or will have to take the exams)
Work Experience:
2+ Years Demonstrated knowledge of the syndicated loan and/or debt capital markets and the corresponding products
Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated successful execution of syndicated loan transactions.
Intellectually product savvy, energetic, and self-motivated with strong initiative to achieve sales goals
Ability to influence and drive complex initiatives and manage logistics with internal stakeholders
Ability to analyze/understand leading technologies and companies
Ability to travel within assigned territory as required
Strong analytical / problem solving skills
Strong relationship management and negotiation skills
Expert presentation and public speaking skills
Ability to work independently
What Else You Need To Know:
The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
