The Difference You Make:
The Application Developer, ED for our Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) business analyzes, evaluates and proposes IT systems and solutions to enhance the value of the business, reduce cost or otherwise provide a competitive advantage. The incumbent researches, procures and implements cutting edge software and hardware solutions to meet the evolving needs of Santander Bank. They prepare program specifications, diagrams, and data flow charts and submits recommendations for solutions, and coordinates system installation with business user departments and operations, ensuring satisfactory results. Finally, the Director provides advanced-level software, system support for all related applications and associates.
Provides technical leadership and direction for multiple system design, development and support initiatives.
Develops and exercises business plans, policies and procedures and may also be responsible for various projects to improve efficiencies.
Manages a specific department, product or process within a specific infrastructure area.
Maintains significant industry experience; expected to be subject area expert in multiple or specific skill sets, business areas or products.
Contributes to strategic technology planning with business client and senior systems management. Manages systems development and support activities for multiple applications and projects.
Maintains day-to-day operational execution, although roles will also include contributing to strategic planning within area of expertise.
Responsible for application development, including middleware and legacy / mainframe systems.
Works with Business and Leadership counterparts in Product Management, Business and Technical Operations, Systems Engineering, Infrastructure, Networks and Architecture teams.
Manages multiple application development teams in the design, development , testing, and support of application software.
Works with our existing technology stack (Java, C++, Linux, Unix, Open Source Platforms, and SOA) and recommend new technologies for our next generation solutions.

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience: Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent field. - Required.
Master's Degree: Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent field. - Preferred.
12+ Years Experience in field or similar industry - Required.
12+ Years Visual Basic, Power Builder, SQL, C CORBA, COM, C++, Visual C++, Smalltalk Java, Java Script, HTML, DHTML, Perl / CGI, EJB, XML, ASP, XLS, JSP, JNI, RMI, Cold Fusion, Cobol, Microfocus, Natural, RPG, CICS, DB2, IMS, JCL, and Pascal. - Required.
12+ Years Working experience with relational databases (Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server, MySQL). - Required.
12+ Years Experience in Java enterprise programming and Java frameworks. - Required.
12+ Years VP/ Director or equivalent level experience. - Required.
Able to build solid, effective working relationships with others.
Able to analyze and resolve complex issues and problems in a sound and timely fashion.
Able to assimilate research data from a variety of sources, analyze, and recommend appropriate courses of action to take.
Able to coach others in the development of their skills.

It Would Be Nice For You To Have:
Established work history or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military service, or education.
Experience in Microsoft Office products.
What Else You Need To Know:
The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
