Role Overview
Santander is seeking a Vice President (VP) Equity Derivatives Trader to join the North America (NAM) Equity Derivatives trading team. The role will focus primarily on equity volatility trading and corporate equity derivatives, with a core client base of US corporates. The successful candidate will be a mid-level trader with experience in corporate derivatives and flow trading and will also contribute to the team’s structured products franchise (including notes linked to US equities). The position requires strong risk ownership, pricing discipline, and the ability to partner closely with Sales, Structuring, and other trading teams supporting both corporate and institutional client segments.
Responsibilities
Price, quote, and trade equity volatility and corporate equity derivatives across flow and bespoke transactions
Manage day-to-day risk for the equity derivatives book
Support coverage of US corporate clients by partnering with Sales and Structuring to deliver timely pricing, market color, and trade ideas
Contribute to structuring, risk-taking, and risk management for structured products, including equity-linked notes referencing US stocks
Coordinate with the institutional/vanilla trading activity on the desk
Monitor market events, volatility dynamics, single-name equity risks, and corporate actions to proactively manage exposures
Ensure robust trade booking, controls, and adherence to limits, governance, and relevant regulatory requirements
Participate in improving desk processes and tooling (analytics, risk reporting, workflow automation) in collaboration with Quant and Technology where needed
Qualifications
Mid-level trading experience in equity derivatives, with demonstrated focus on equity volatility products and corporate client flows
Strong understanding of volatility markets
Proven ability to manage risk responsibly and communicate risk and P&L drivers clearly
Strong execution skills and comfort operating in a fast-paced flow environment
Ability to work effectively across Sales, Structuring, Risk, and Technology in a collaborative front-office setting
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a client-oriented mindset
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
