The Difference You Make:
The Director, HNW Wealth Planner provides advanced financial planning, cross-border tax strategy, and holistic wealth guidance for high-net-worth (HNW) domestic and international clients within a broker-dealer environment. This role partners with financial advisors, relationship managers, and product teams to deliver customized planning solutions covering multi-jurisdictional tax considerations, estate planning, wealth transfer, philanthropic strategies, and investment-related tax optimization. The ideal candidate blends deep financial planning expertise, strong U.S. and international tax knowledge, and the ability to communicate complex matters to sophisticated global clients.
Wealth & Financial Planning
- Deliver comprehensive wealth plans for HNW individuals, families, and global households with U.S. and non-U.S. connections.
- Analyze client goals related to retirement, cash flow, liquidity planning, trust and estate planning, and legacy considerations.
- Build customized planning strategies covering investment allocation, risk management, concentrated equity positions, alternatives, and structured product exposure.
- Prepare planning presentations, deliverables, and scenario analyses for advisors and key clients.
Tax Strategy & Cross-Border Analysis
- Provide guidance on U.S. tax considerations for HNW global clients, including inbound/outbound planning, residency issues, reporting obligations, and cross-border asset structures.
- Evaluate tax implications of investments including municipal bonds, international fixed income, PFICs, alternatives, and structured solutions.
- Support advisors and clients with tax-efficient strategies such as asset location, charitable gifting, and estate planning techniques.
- Partner with Legal/Compliance on FATCA, CRS, and foreign reporting rules impacting global clients.
Advisor & Client Collaboration
- Serve as an advanced planning resource for financial advisors supporting HNW and international households.
- Participate in client meetings to present planning recommendations and tax-informed strategies.
- Work closely with the broker-dealer’s lending, trust, investment, and wealth strategy teams to deliver integrated recommendations.
Regulatory, Compliance & Documentation Support
- Ensure all planning recommendations adhere to FINRA, SEC, Reg BI, and internal supervisory expectations.
- Maintain documentation that demonstrates suitability, tax rationale, and planning assumptions.
- Support due diligence for cross-border clients including KYC/AML considerations and product eligibility limitations.
Education & Internal Leadership
- Train advisors on planning techniques, tax considerations, cross-border complexities, and wealth strategies.
- Create planning tools, case studies, and internal reference materials for the field.
- Participate in thought leadership initiatives on global HNW trends and tax legislation changes.

- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience: Business, Finance or equivalent field. - Required.
- 9+ years of wealth planning, tax advisory, or private wealth experience.
- Strong understanding of U.S. tax code (individual, trust, investment) and familiarity with cross-border tax principles.
- Experience working with HNW clients, global families, expatriates, or international investors.
- Strong financial modeling, analytical, and communication skills. Proven experience with HNW/UHNW client structures, including trusts, estates, foundations, family offices, and discretionary mandates.
- Demonstrated management, leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated marketing and marketing research skills.
- Thorough knowledge of competitive market, operations and various products and services within assigned area.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
- Strong financial and competitive analysis and PC skills.
Certifications:
Active FINRA Series 7 required - Required.
Active Series 66 (or Series 63 and 65) licenses - Required.
It Would Be Nice For You To Have:
- Established work history or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military service, or education.
- Experience in Microsoft Office products.
What Else You Need To Know:
The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
