The Difference You Make:
Santander Dealer Commercial Services (“DCS”) delivers integrated capital and banking solutions to automotive dealers nationwide, including floorplan financing, syndicated lending, commercial real estate, treasury, merchant services, and other commercial banking capabilities.
The Associate Business Development Officer is responsible for driving new-to-bank business development by cultivating relationships through internal and external networking, direct prospecting, and strategic referral partnerships. This role partners closely with Credit and Portfolio Management teams to structure lending opportunities, coordinate underwriting activities, identify cross-sell opportunities, and deliver exceptional client experience while serving as a trusted relationship manager.
Position Summary:
Develop and close new commercial lending opportunities through direct business development efforts, internal partnerships, and external referral networks.
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients by networking with internal sales teams, referral sources, and syndication professionals at financial institutions.
Represent Santander professionally at industry events, networking functions, and client meetings to expand market presence and generate business opportunities.
Partner with Credit teams and Senior Business Development Officers to coordinate loan proposals, underwriting activities, and deal execution for prospective clients.
Prepare clear and concise deal briefing memoranda to support lending opportunities and internal decision-making.
Engage cross-functional business partners to identify and deliver appropriate cross-sell solutions that meet client needs.
Maintain an organized and up-to-date database of prospects, referral sources, and business development activities.
Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned clients, partnering closely with Portfolio Managers to support ongoing client satisfaction and business growth.
What You Bring:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military service, or education – Required.
Professional Experience:
5+ years of lending, business development, commercial banking, or related new business calling experience – Required.
Skills:
Commercial lending and business development expertise.
Relationship management, client acquisition, and negotiation skills.
Ability to coordinate complex initiatives across multiple internal stakeholders.
Strong financial analysis and proficiency with financial calculations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into meaningful business insights.
Excellent presentation, public speaking, verbal, and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to analyze and understand emerging technologies and companies.
Ability to travel within the assigned territory as required.
Self-motivated, sales-oriented, and able to work independently in a remote environment.
Demonstrated ability to motivate, influence, and collaborate effectively with others.

The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
