Description



The VP-Letters of Credit Specialist serves as an SME responsible for managing the Letters of Credit transactions with US and overseas clients. S/he manages the transactions from origination through execution and liaises with GAOs on marketing plans.


Responsibilities:

  • To manage the Letters of Credit portfolio for Santander US Trade Finance business
  • Responsible for the Issuance, advising, amendment and negotiation of Standby, Import and Export Letters of credits.

  • Communicate with clients regarding Letters of Credit terms and condition

  • Prepare, review and approve sample language for standby letters of credit requests.

  • Investigate and resolve issuance problems, as well as customer inquiries.

  • Dealing with different countries where Santander has business units to develop our global Letters of Credit business.

  • Develops internal relationships in support areas critical to getting GTB deals booked legal, Credit Risk, Compliance, Operations.

  • Establishes procedures to accommodate new transactions.

  • Responsible for origination support of Letters of Credit transactions with US and overseas clients.

Qualifications


  • A deep knowledge of the Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits, Incoterms, Uniform Rules for Collections, the Bills of Exchange Act, International Standard Banking Practice, Anti Money Laundering, Uniform Rules for Demand Guarantees, Reputation and Legal Risks Procedures.
  • At least 6 years previous Letters of Credit Experience.

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience - Business, Finance or equivalent field.

  • Ability to maintain and demonstrate high ethical standards and personal integrity to build credibility and trust while enhancing the organization’s reputation.

  • Ability to translate customer needs into marketable product features.

  • Ability to work independently and be detail oriented and analytical

  • Advanced knowledge of financial analysis, risk evaluation, letters of credit documentation.

  • Demonstrated understanding of product development life cycle.

  • Demonstrates the ability to create strategic plans and lay out a strategic course of action to drive future business growth for a specific product.

  • Superior client relationship, marketing presentation and sales/closing skills.
