WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

USA Job Function Description:

The firm is seeking a full-time trader to join an established team. Interested candidates must have product knowledge and trading experience in the U.S. residential mortgage market.  The position is high-touch, and the candidate will be expected to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.

This position provides a unique opportunity to gain exposure across the entire range of the U.S. residential mortgage market, and involves collaborating closely with mortgage traders, institutional sales teams, strategists, and quant teams.   In this role, the candidate will be expected to be a key contributor to generating trading revenues and managing risk.  The candidate will also gain invaluable experience in trading, structuring, and operating a successful trading business. 


Essential Functions/Responsibility:

  • Perform price discovery of RMBS and related asset classes and identify relative value opportunities in the market

  • Based on market conditions, customer demand, relative value, and other market factors, effectively identify and position risk across the capital stack

  • Trade bonds from inventory but also facilitate riskless transactions and work on customer inquiry and situations

  • Work closely with strategy and data analytics team to market opportunities both internally and externally to institutional clients

  • Collaborate closely with sales to develop and maintain relationships and transact with a variety of institutional accounts

  • Manage and actively hedge trading book with TBAs, Treasuries, Futures, and Options

  • Gather, store and share market updates, color, and insights

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of trading protocols, markets levels and risk management of RMBS

  • Strong understanding of U.S. residential mortgage market and RMBS fundamentals as well as macro-economic factors affecting the value and trading flow

  • Great communicator and marketer both in voice and written forms

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to engage and develop deep relationships with customers

  • Willingness to work long hours in a demanding, highly focused, collaborative, and team environment

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a high-pressure environment

  • Results driven, with a strong sense of accountability and moral compass

  • Detailed-oriented with strong analytical / problem solving skills

  • Relevant experience, 5-9+ years

  • Ideally, 3+ years of trading experience in RMBS


Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Business or equivalent field (Req)

  • FINRA series 7 and 63 licenses

Working Conditions: Frequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing and walking. Occasional moving and lifting equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown. Physically capable of lifting up to fifty pounds, able to bend, kneel, climb ladders.

For NYC Job Applicants: The base annual salary range for this position is $161,000-$201,250. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
