Associate Director, Product Manager, U.S. Small Business Administration

The Associate Director, SBA Product Manager leads product management, strategy and processes for U.S. Small Business Administration (“SBA”) products. S/he liaises with cross-functional teams to provide products that address client needs, and to ensure end-to-end compliance with the SBA program rules. In addition, the incumbent leads sessions on the design and development of SBA product strategies.

What to Expect - 

  • Lead the product management for SBA products, services, and strategies in conjunction with other areas of the bank including Small Business Banking Strategy, Underwriting/Fulfillment, Risk, Operations, Marketing, and Finance
  • Actively monitor and measure the customer experience for issues, respond to customer & colleague pain points, and recommend or design appropriate changes
  • Analyze results to identify opportunities, help drive decisions on SBA compliance, strategy and credit risk
  • Establish pricing recommendations that balance growth and profitability objectives
  • Develop SBA products’ business cases based on team and industry reports
  • Assist in determining responsibilities and scope of the SBA products, operations and program overall
  • Lead cross-functional sessions with teams such as Operations, Underwriting/Fulfillment, Workout, and Marketing
  • Contribute to the achievement of related teams' objectives
  • Develop and maintain the SBA product roadmaps and platform strategy
  • Develop consultative services and innovative capabilities for core solutions
  • Evolve the organization structure to create efficient and consistent services to our partners, including speed to market, cost reduction, and a focus on the elimination of duplicative systems across the environment
  • Partner with technology on strategic planning, product design and implementation
  • Prioritize SBA product requirements and further investigates product feasibility
  • Responsible for addressing customer feedback and concerns
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technology in the domain
  • Summarize findings and may provide recommendations for management review
  • Use high familiarity with product competitors, consumer trends, and market status to analyze and review reports compiled by more junior analysts
  • Work closely with business partners to understand business processes and value chain to align solutions to business needs and priorities.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or equivalent discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • 10-15 years of relevant, related work experience with SBA program and products
  • Strong data skills
  • Strong background in credit risk
  • Ability to communicate effectively to internal teams, key partners, and executive management
  • Ability to interact with integrity and a high level of professionalism with all levels of team members and management
  • Demonstrated understanding of product development life cycle
  • Demonstrates the ability to create strategic plans and layout a strategic course of action to drive future business growth for a specific product
  • Demonstrates the ability to translate customer needs into marketable product features
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-starter: forward-thinking, with a positive/can-do attitude
  • Solid understanding of the impact of regulatory changes on the products
  • Strong analytical skills/financial acumen
  • Strong project management skills
