The Associate Operational Risk position supports the operational execution of the Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) program policies, standards, governance and communication requirements. The position will also include the coordination of the TPRM program to the key operational risk programs including:  Coordination of Local Supplier Working Groups (LSWG) meetings, Policy, Standard, and Procedure continual improvement and coordination with Group Policy requirements, coordination, support and reporting of Material Risk Programs, Group Reporting validation efforts, SHUSA TPRM training, SHUSA job aids and awareness, TPRM 2Lod record keeping, issue management and remediation planning, tracking, testing, compliance and other duties as assigned.

Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate all TPRM Committee meetings, agendas, materials, and documentation of attendance and discussions/minutes

  • Manage the TPRM SharePoint Site

  • Attend various 1LOD meetings to represent 2Lod TPRM for trouble shooting, to provide policy/standard, procedure clarification and guidance

  • Assess continually the operational execution aspects of the TPRM Policy, Standard, and Procedures and the interfaces with other Third-Party Assessment Teams i.e., BCP, Info Sec, VRAC – for efficiency and clarity.

  • Prepare reporting decks for the various TPRM committees, audit, compliance, and working groups

  • Conduct third party risk assessments in alignment with the Banks policies and industry standards

  • Foster relationships and influence the behavior internal teams and external parties

  • Assist in development and execution of category/supplier strategies

  • Support Business Lines in the interpretation and execution of the Group and SHUSA Vendor policies.

  • Assist in the ongoing oversight of TPRM Framework in support of the first line of defense

  • Contributes to escalation, reporting, communication to Risk Governance Forums

  • Helps drive culture of risk awareness

  • Participates in the creation and delivery of Operational Risk business-tailored training

  • Supports the creation, management and development of OR program strategy, policies and models within the TPRM Program.

  • Minimum eight years of experience developing and maintaining global vendor risk management programs

  • CISSP, CISM, CISA, or CRISC certification preferred

  • Experience in third party oversight regulatory requirements and testing

  • Experience in proper invoice review, reconciliation, and payment

  • Experience in the monitoring and successful delivery against third party contractual obligations

  • Experience in the development and monitoring of SLA's or key performance indicators for third party relationships

  • Bachelor's Degree: Business, Finance or equivalent field or equivalent work experience required

  • 5-9 years; Risk Management/ Risk MIS

  • Ability to adapt and adjust to multiple demands and competing priorities

  • Ability to adjust to new developments/changing circumstances

  • Ability to convey a sense of urgency and drive issues/projects to closure

  • Ability to effectively interact with the market, executive management and vendors

  • Ability to handle conflict resolution with other groups to ensure appropriate accounting guidance is followed

  • Ability to independently operate in a complex, matrixed environment; adept at delivering and maintaining productive working relationships across business, functions, geographies and lines of defense

  • Advanced understanding of key inherent risk and risk management control practices

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Knowledge of workflow/processes and risks/controls, including origination, underwriting, servicing, and collections/workout

  • Strong analytical, organizational and project management skills

  • Strong risk management principles, methodologies and tools, governance principles and activity preferably in a financial services technology environment

  • Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing, and walking

  • Communicates in a timely and straightforward manner

  • Probes for additional information, clarifies assumptions and confirms agreed-upon actions

  • Keeps everyone involved informed about progress and issues

  • Communicates the importance and benefits of risk management to counterparts

  • Displays natural skepticism and curiosity to question the status quo and uncover issues

  • Adheres to a good root cause analysis process

  • Creates a good working environment in the team; works towards shared goals contributing ideas and accepting change. Provides assistance and coaches less experienced team members

  • Executes risk management process and procedures without management direction, and demonstrates awareness of expected results

  • Knows the relationship and impact of actions and results

  • Has an understanding of regulations impacting area supported

  • Follows through to meet commitments to others. Takes responsibility for achieving strong results, despite balancing multiple complex demands

  • Knows who to reach out to inside and outside of ones team to get work done

  • Takes action to enhance working relationships needed to achieve seamless workflow

  • Stays current with industry and regulatory trends and emerging risk issues

  • Has good understanding of current market and competitive landscape that the organization operates within

  • Uses information and data effectively to support a position and present a rational case
