Responsible for ensuring that all of the company's activities adhere to the necessary rules and regulations, and that the company complies with legal/regulatory statutes and jurisdictions.

Represents or supports the representation of the company to minimize compliance and regulatory risk by resolving issues and ensuring adherence to company and legal standards. Responsible for ensuring that all of the company's activities adhere to the necessary rules and regulations, and that the company complies with legal/regulatory statutes and jurisdictions.

Summary of Responsibilities:


The Manager, Compliance oversees the day-to-day monitoring and reporting activities for the Compliance team to ensure compliance with regulatory, policy and/or procedural requirements. S/he provides the daily work direction, resource allocation, and communication for the Compliance team. The Manager, Compliance also escalates to senior management where non-compliance is identified, performs risk assessments, synthesizes analyses, advises the First Line of Defense on regulatory requirements, issue management and RCSA efforts, and provides recommendations to management that influence business solutions.


Essential Functions:

  • Sets day-to-day work direction, resource allocation, and communication for Compliance team.
  • Recommends enhancements to management on potential corrective solutions.
  • Provides timely and accurate information or feedback pursuant to monitoring reviews or business initiatives and issue management.
  • Analyzes existing and proposed legislation, regulatory announcements, and industry practices for compliance requirements, and collaborates with the business units to implement procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Identifies federal and state law requirements relating to Auto servicing, payments, product cancellations, fees, titles, impounds, repossession, extensions, settlements, modifications, disclosures, and collection laws.
  • Partners with managers in assigned business unit to respond to reports issued by regulatory agencies or audit.
  • Oversees evaluation of controls in place to ensure continuous compliance measures with laws, regulations and policies affecting the organization, and recommends process improvements to management.
  • Provides weekly status reports to senior leadership on ongoing monitoring reviews and issue management.
  • Ensures policies, practices, and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Conducts periodic reviews of policies, procedures, and operations for compliance.
  • Ensures efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.
  • Supports the Compliance Program through effective training and communication, including the delivery of content to various audiences.
  • Identifies compliance issues that require follow-up or investigation.
  • Disseminates written policies and procedures related to compliance activities.
  • Communicates emerging compliance issues with management or employees.
  • Provides employee training on compliance related topics, policies, or procedures.


Other Functions:

  • Directs and reviews the work of the team and provides training to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages subordinate professional staff. S/he is responsible for the strategic guidance, development and evaluation of employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Santander’s policies and applicable laws.

Requirements:

  • Education
    • Bachelor's Degree: Business, Finance, or equivalent field, or equivalent work experience
    • Master's Degree: Business, Finance, or equivalent field.
  • Experience
    • 5-9 years Compliance, Legal, Regulatory, or Financial Services.
    • Auto experience – Preferred
  • Skills & Abilities
  • The ideal candidate would have experience in a consumer financial services environment with specific exposure to federal and state consumer servicing regulations, including those related to customer service, collections, credit bureau reporting, repossessions, product cancellations, fees and disclosures. The primary regulations to be supported are SCRA and FCRA. Additional knowledge of UDAAP, FDCPA, and other federal regulations preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge, theories, and concepts of Compliance, Risk, and Audit methodology, process development, and implementation.
  • Knowledge of current laws and regulations that affect the organization's policies.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of highly skilled professionals.

  • Ability to present ideas and concepts in a clear and concise manner to management.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently: Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Occasional moving and lifting of equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to fifty pounds, able to bend, kneel, climb ladders.
