WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

The Director of Data Science (Consumer Lending) will lead a team of data scientists and business analysts with the purpose of delivering on Santander Bank’s strategic objectives for the Consumer Lending business. S/he will use holistic data and advanced analytics practices to develop deep customer insights, identify portfolio optimization opportunities and formulate business cases for new growth initiatives.

Essential Functions/Responsibility Statements:

• Partner with line-of-business to develop and execute an analytics agenda to drive strategic objectives for personal loan, credit card and point-of-sale lending

• Deliver deep insights on portfolio and new customer performance, in partnership with Bi/Reporting team

• Identify portfolio optimization opportunities to increase activation, usage and retention of customer relationships

• Partner with marketing and decision sciences teams to optimize marketing investments, using advanced models and a rigorous test-and-learn approach

• Build in-depth knowledge of the product P&L, business success drivers, industry trends, regulatory issues and competitive marketplace to develop value added business solutions

• Develop and maintain relationships with senior executives in the business lines

• Maintain strong operating rhythms with business partners to align capacity to key priorities

• Lead a team of business analysts and data scientists, providing analytical leadership and mentoring to develop technical skills and business acumen

Education:

 Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience

Work Experience:

9-12 years ; Data mining/advanced analytics applied to large-scale data-intensive projects.

Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrated relationship building and collaboration skills; ability to influence and drive outcomes in large, matrixed and complex organizations.

• Demonstrated experience with identifying data patterns and using a variety of data-analysis techniques to evaluate hypotheses and understand key drivers

• Hands-on experience with data wrangling, statistical analysis, data visualization

• Understanding of customer-level financial data, industry trends and benchmarks

• Consultative approach, with a proven track record of using data to provide actionable business results

• Superior communication and persuasion skills; talent for storytelling, visualization and creating insights from data to deliver practical recommendations for business action

• Experience managing teams of data scientists and analytics professionals

• Experience managing and prioritizing projects effectively to meet business needs
