The Associate Director, Brand & Creative Tracking, will lead the insights capability for Consumer & Business Banking in the US, reporting to SVP, Insights & Global Connectivity. This role will be responsible for:

  • Running the US Brand Tracker, in close collaboration with our vendor partner and our Group (global) marketing leadership team
  • Identifying insights from brand research that have implications for campaign planning, corporate communications, or product design / targeting
  • Understanding how perceptions of the Santander brand are evolving—both vs. goals, and relative to competitors and previous periods
  • Developing a concept & creative testing curriculum and rolling it out, initially within Santander US and eventually collaborating with global colleagues on the program. This will include vendor selection, methodology, alignment with Marketing Operations on when / how creative will be tested, working with ad / creative agencies (internal and external), and developing normative performance benchmarks
  • Participating in thought leadership efforts for insights best practices within the Santander Group (global) marketing community, collaborating with peers in Madrid and other geos to set standards and share findings
  • Developing customer / prospect insights to be leveraged for development of marketing & creative campaigns
  • Evaluating creative concepts and campaigns pre- and post-launch using normative testing benchmarks
  • Working with Real Estate and Design teams to test design elements and concepts for new branch locations, including future-forward, conceptual design models
  • Ensuring that personal portfolio of market research work adheres to best practices for methodology, accuracy, timeliness and relevance to decision makers
  • Working constructively with research vendor partners, ensuring that work is high quality, on time, and adheres to agreed-upon methodologies and scope

The Associate Director will report to the SVP, head of Insights, and work with peers experienced marketing, both within and outside the US. Very infrequent international travel will be expected, as well as potential travel for research purposes within the United States—including to markets outside the current Santander retail banking footprint.

  • Bachelor's Degree required; masters preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in market research / insights roles
  • 1+ years of financial services industry experience required, ideally in digital and / or retail banking (can be on the agency side)
  • Some experience working with global colleagues or on global projects preferred
  • Deep expertise in brand tracking and creative testing, particularly quant research
  • Track record of using insights to effectively influence business decisions
  • Ability to integrate third-party insights & data with primary research
  • 2+ years of experience managing research vendors
  • Experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
  • Familiarity with Marketing, including the campaign development process, optimization, and planning functions
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced culture during a period of transformational change
  • Strong analytical skills and project management skills
  • Strong prioritization skills and ability to quickly re-prioritize in a dynamic environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Candidate will be expected to be in our Boston office 3 days per week, plus additional visits as needed for specific meetings. Commuting to and from the office will not be reimbursed
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
